"How can those who live in the light of day possibly comprehend the depths of night?" is the final line of Haruki Murakami's "Hear the Wind Sing." It is mentioned as a quote from Nietzsche, inscribed on the gravestone of the fictional character Hatfield, according to his last will. However, Nietzsche never actually said this. There is a similar phrase in "Thus Spoke Zarathustra," but it is quite different. It is closer to fiction than a mere variation. Murakami has created new meanings through an imaginary element that subtly intersects with reality. While this is certainly an excellent precedent, elsewhere in the world, it seems that this virtualism increasingly holds greater value than reality. The piece attempts to apply that method to music.
